Monas Replica Made of Crocodile-Shaped Bread Got MURI Award

A National Monument (Monas) replica that is made from 8,000 crocodile-shaped breads or locally known as roti buaya in Cipinang Indah Mall, Kalimalang, East Jakarta, received an award from the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI), Saturday (12/19).

The record is the third time received by the Indonesian Tourism Academy (Akpindo), having earlier in 2010 broke the record of the longest tape-based cake.

"I am very grateful to be part of a monumental event. Where Akpindo appreciates local wisdom. Crocodile is the epitome of loyalty, which of course can be translated by Akpindo to the world of tourism, to our city, Jakarta," said Deputy Mayor of South Jakarta, Husein Murad, when he attended in handover of MURI charter.

On that occasion, Murad invited students to take part enlivening the East Jakarta Mayor Office Tour event on Saturday and Sunday or weekend.

"Every weekend, we open space to those who want to display that they have," he told.

Vice Director of MURI, Osma Semesta Susilo said including Monas replica, he has issued 7,264 MURI records.

"To make crocodile bread is not easy. But they can, this is amazing," he expressed.
